Front Yard Retaining Wall

Location: Mosman, Lower North Shore

Project: Landscape Design & DA Lodgement

The existing high retaining wall on the boundary was failing and unstable and in desperate need for a makeover. Large planting blocked the view of the architecturally designed house.

The brief from the client was to design a new front garden and retaining walls with a modern, natural earthy feel. Rather than a large retaining wall dominating the streetscape, several terraced retaining walls were designed with various finishes. Products such as corten steel, stone cladding, Australian hardwood, render and recycled timbers sleepers were used to enhance and open up the property. The plant selection in the garden design was a modern mix of grasses and low shrubs. Native plants and succulents were used in the plant selection for their colour and form and to compliment the materials selected.

Once the design was completed a DA for the development was submitted to council with approval granted.
